Resistance stainless steel: The corrosion resistance of this material is guaranteed primarily by the alloying elements chrome and nickel. Metallic bright parts from rustproof material form in atmosphere a thin oxide layer on the surface, (Passivevation) that protects against corrosion. If this layer becomes chemical or mechanical damaged, stainless steel cannot withstand corrosion of basic material. Resistance Aluminum: Aluminum and aluminum alloys already have a protective oxide layer directly after the products are manufactured (profiles, metal sheets). This form of protection is a reaction of the metal with the oxygen contained in the air. It protects the aluminum like a thin skin. Aluminum therefore is very resistant to acids appearing during lumber drying like tannic acid, formic acid etc..
